“Girls Dominated the Casting!”—SHADOWS OF TRUTH Leaves Kigali Buzzing as Female Talent Brings New Hope to Rwandan Cinema

In a surprising and exciting development, the casting event for the upcoming movie project SHADOWS OF TRUTH, held at Kigali Diplomate Hotel on Saturday, May 23, 2026, became one of the most talked-about entertainment events in Kigali.

The event was organized by SeanFab TV under the leadership of RM Fabrice Iradukunda, who is also the writer and producer of the film project. It attracted hundreds of young people from across Rwanda, all eager to pursue their dreams in professional filmmaking.

What captured the attention of many was the overwhelming presence and outstanding performance of female participants. Girls not only outnumbered male contestants but also impressed judges with their confidence, creativity, and professionalism during auditions.

Many attendees described it as a rare and refreshing moment for Rwanda’s film industry, where men have traditionally dominated such opportunities. Observers believe the strong showing by women could signal a major shift in the future of Rwandan cinema.

More than 500 participants attended the casting, including actors, comedians, journalists, singers, dancers, content creators, and aspiring film crew members with interests in behind-the-scenes production.

After intense auditions and fierce competition, 45 candidates were selected to advance to the next stage. The chosen participants include lead actors, supporting cast members, and technical production crew who will contribute to different aspects of the film

Some of the participants were already known figures in acting, comedy, and social media content creation, while others were fresh new talents hoping for their breakthrough opportunity.

The judging panel featured several well-known names in Rwanda’s entertainment industry, including Kanji Criss, Murundi Skit Comedy, Sugira, SeanFab Comedy, Napoleon Rwanda Inkirigito, and Nelly, who is popular for her roles in the TV series Gasikiri and Doctor Love.

Also present were Govy Star from GS Music Studio, film directors such as Director Why Master and Director Kasha, alongside other experienced professionals from Rwanda’s growing film sector.

The event was filled with entertainment performances that kept the audience energized throughout the day. Dancers, comedians, and musicians entertained guests, while a seven-year-old girl named Shasmini amazed many with her exceptional talent.

Shasmini was later given the opportunity to contribute to the background music of the movie — a gesture many viewed as proof that the project is committed to nurturing talent of all ages, including gifted children

Organizers emphasized that SHADOWS OF TRUTH is not just another movie project, but a mission aimed at elevating the standards of Rwandan cinema and creating fresh opportunities for talented youth.

They explained that selected participants will be expected to work professionally and follow international filmmaking standards throughout the production process.

Following the auditions, shortlisted candidates held special discussions with the project organizers regarding training sessions, filming schedules, and preparations ahead of the movie’s official production phase, which is expected to begin in July 2026.

The film will reportedly be shot in both Rwanda and Uganda, a move expected to increase its international appeal and showcase Rwandan talent beyond the country’s borders.

The organizers extended special appreciation to GS Music Studio, Kigali Diplomate Hotel, Ivuze App, the judging panel, volunteers, and all partners who contributed to the success of the casting event.

They also called upon sponsors, media houses, investors, transport companies, catering services, and hospitality providers to support what they described as a fast-rising and promising film project.

Entertainment analysts say the massive youth turnout at the casting reflects the rapid growth of Rwanda’s entertainment industry, especially in the film sector, which continues to attract a new generation of ambitious creative talent.
