Kigali Hosts Landmark Tech Summit: “Africa Is Not Waiting for the Future — It Is Building It”

The city of Kigali once again affirmed its position as a growing hub for innovation and technology in East Africa during the Project Scale Africa – East Africa Edition, a major gathering that brought together business leaders, entrepreneurs, technology experts, and investors united by one vision: building an Africa driven by innovation and digital transformation.

The event was organized through a partnership between Edniesal Consulting Limited, under its CIO & C-Suite Projects Africa initiative, and Jackal Tech Ltd. It served as a powerful platform for exchanging ideas and exploring the future of technology across the African continent.

In his Closing  remarks, Ignace Kwizera thanked participants for attending, emphasizing that the gathering was far more than a conference or celebration. He described it as “a meeting of visionaries committed to transforming Africa through technology.”

He delivered a statement that resonated strongly with attendees, particularly young innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs:

“Africa is no longer waiting for the future. Africa is building it.”

The summit featured several high-level discussions, including a session titled “Practical AI Adoption in Africa: Cases that Deliver Results.” The panel explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already transforming sectors such as healthcare, education, finance, and business operations by enabling faster, smarter, and more efficient services.

Industry leaders and technology experts highlighted Africa’s enormous opportunity to use AI as a tool for solving pressing societal challenges while accelerating the growth of knowledge-based economies. Speakers stressed that AI should not merely be viewed as a modern technological trend, but as a catalyst for job creation, service improvement, and sustainable development.

Another major highlight of the event was the “Ladies in Tech & Leadership 4.0: From Inclusion to Influence” program, which focused on strengthening the role of women in technology and leadership.

Participants discussed the journey from simply including women in workplaces and leadership spaces to ensuring they have meaningful influence in decision-making and organizational transformation. Speakers emphasized that increasing women’s representation in leadership and technology is not only beneficial for gender equality, but also essential for Africa’s long-term and inclusive growth.

The organizers also underscored the importance of strong corporate governance and visionary leadership, noting that Africa needs leaders capable of leveraging technology in ways that are innovative, impactful, and globally competitive.

Special recognition was given to Abiola Laseinde for her contribution to developing technology leadership across Africa and for connecting experts working toward digital transformation on the continent.

The event additionally honored several outstanding C-suite executives and technology leaders who continue to drive innovation and digital advancement in different African countries.

By the end of the summit, participants shared a common belief: Africa is entering a new era of growth powered by technology, visionary leadership, Artificial Intelligence, and the increasing influence of women in shaping industries and governance.

Project Scale Africa – East Africa Edition left attendees with renewed optimism and a strong message — Africa has the talent, creativity, and determination to become one of the world’s leading regions in innovation and technology-driven development.

As the world moves deeper into the digital age, Kigali once again demonstrated why it is rapidly emerging as one of Africa’s most important centers for technological innovation and transformative ideas.
