Volkswagen reassures Rwandans that it has no plans to stop operations in Rwanda

The management of the Volkswagen Group Africa has strongly denied reports that it may cease operations in Rwanda, calling the reports to be baseless rumours.

In a message posted on X's website on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Volkswagen assured its customers, partners and the general public that its operations will continue as normal. "We don't have any plans to cut back on investment or leave Rwanda," he said. The information is false and unfounded."

The company also announced that it is in the process of expanding its operations, with from April 1, 2026, the Volkswagen Mobility Solutions Rwanda division moving to a new and larger building located in the Special Economic Zone.

Volkswagen has indicated that it will continue to offer its services including car rentals, car assembling, selling them and post-sale maintenance. All of these activities are aimed at promoting trade and providing efficient services to the Rwandan and regional markets.

In addition, the company has confirmed that it intends to expand its manufacturing plant in Rwanda at the regional level, with a view to implementing strategies to improve transport services in Africa.

Volkswagen Group Africa has confirmed that it will continue to provide vehicles and a modern transport solution, in line with international standards, in order to promote Rwanda's economy and development.
