Kigali Welcomes Africa’s Volleyball Elite for Historic 47th CAVB Club Championship

Kigali is buzzing with anticipation as Africa’s top men’s volleyball clubs arrive for the 47th edition of the CAVB Men’s Club Championship, set to take place from April 22 to May 3, 2026. For the first time ever, this prestigious continental tournament is being hosted in Sub-Saharan Africa, marking a major milestone for both Rwanda and African volleyball.

By early Tuesday morning, 17 foreign teams had already touched down in the Rwandan capital. Among the latest arrivals were Egypt’s volleyball giants Al Ahly SC—record champions with 16 titles—alongside Petrojet SC, also from Egypt, and Morocco’s Faith Union Sport. Their arrival adds to an already impressive lineup of elite clubs from across the continent, all vying for African glory.

Matches will be staged at two of Kigali’s premier indoor venues, BK Arena and Petit Stade, both expected to draw passionate crowds eager to witness high-level competition. Rwanda will be proudly represented by three teams: APR VC, Police VC, and Kepler VC, each hoping to make a strong impression on home soil.

The tournament officially kicked off on April 20 and promises nearly two weeks of thrilling action, showcasing the very best of African club volleyball. With seasoned champions, rising stars, and a historic host nation, Kigali is set to deliver a championship to remember—both on and off the court.
