Manchester City beat Arsenal to win Carabao Cup final thanks to Nico O’Reilly goals
Kigali-22 March 2026
O’Reilly scored two headers in four minutes to win Manchester City their ninth League Cup. Manchester City’s long odds of winning a quadruple this season disappeared with their Champions League exit against Real Madrid earlier in the week.

Now Arsenal’s hopes — which were unlikely but not entirely out of the question — have been dashed too.

The wait for a men’s team to win an English football quadruple goes on.

Arteta says defeat must be the fire in Arsenal's bellies

Mikel Arteta has the job of lifting his players from defeat at Wembley to attack the final phase of the season, when they will be chasing more trophies in the Premier League. Champions League and FA Cup.

Mikel Arteta claims he has no regrets about starting Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal ahead of No.1 David Raya.

Arrizabalaga has started ahead of his fellow Spaniard throughout the Carabao Cup campaign and kept his place, but dropped a cross to give Nico O'Reilly the crucial opening goal.
