Rwanda and Uganda Pledge Closer Cooperation Following High-Level Talks in Kampala

Rwanda and Uganda have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation following the conclusion of the 12th session of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) held in Kampala, Uganda. The ministerial meeting brought together senior officials from both countries to review the progress of existing partnerships and explore new avenues for collaboration. The Rwandan delegation was led by Dr. Usta Kaitesi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, while the Ugandan delegation was headed by Hon. John Mulumba, Uganda’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs.

In her remarks, Dr. Kaitesi underscored the significance of the Joint Permanent Commission as a key platform for advancing results-oriented cooperation between the two neighboring countries. She emphasized the importance of translating agreed decisions into concrete and timely actions that deliver tangible benefits to citizens. Both sides praised the strong and enduring relationship between Rwanda and Uganda as sisterly nations, and called for intensified efforts to transform their longstanding ties into practical outcomes that improve the livelihoods of their people. The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and regional cooperation between the two countries.
