Written by Wilson Mukimbiri
The Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force, Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, today presided over the graduation ceremony of 74 senior officers who successfully completed an intensive military leadership course.
The officers, drawn from the Rwanda Defence Force, the Rwanda National Police, and the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), concluded 22 weeks of advanced training at the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College in Nyakinama, located in Musanze District. This marked the completion of the 26th intake of the Senior Command and Staff Course.
Among the graduates were five female officers, highlighting continued progress in gender inclusion within Rwanda’s security institutions.
The course focused on strengthening participants’ capacity to plan and lead military operations up to the brigade level. It also emphasized leadership, strategic thinking, and effective management of military responsibilities.
By the end of the program, graduates had gained critical skills in operational planning, command, and decision-making—competencies essential for addressing modern security challenges and enhancing the professionalism of Rwanda’s security forces.
